Three men have been arrested following the discovery of a firearm in Co Louth.

Three men have been arrested following the discovery of a firearm in Co Louth.

A handgun was found after gardaí searched a car at Greenacres in Dundalk shortly after 9pm yesterday.

A 40-year-old man and two other men in their late 20s were arrested at the scene.

They are being questioned at Dundalk garda station, where they can be held for up to 72 hours.
