More than 100,000 people will take part in events around the world this morning, to raise funds for the suicide prevention charity Pieta House.

Thousands to take part in Darkness into Light event

More than 100,000 people will take part in events around the world this morning, to raise funds for the suicide prevention charity Pieta House.

Darkness into Light events will take place in 80 locations in Ireland and across the world, at dawn this morning.

Starting at 4.15am, and crossing the line just as dawn is breaking, the annual 5km walk/run, will celebrate its seventh year today.

The walk is the main fundraising event organised by the suicide and self-harm prevention and treatment centre Pieta House
