Thousands to participate in memorial walk for Erin's 14th birthday

Thousands of people are expected to to take part in a memorial walk in Co Donegal later today for Erin Gallagher.

The 13 year old from Ballybofey took her own life last month after allegedly being subjected to cyber bullying.

Today would have been her 14th birthday.

Speaking to the Midweek programme on TV3 last night, her grandfather James Gallagher says it's such a terrible waste of life but he hopes his granddaughter's death will not be in vain.

"I'd like to see protocol, legislation being brought into schools. I'd like to see teachers more educated so they can look for signs.

"I'd like to see young people educated on abuse to see what it can lead to because it will be a wake up. We have to try and stop what happened to Erin happening to anybody else."
