Thousands of frontline public servants have been taking part in a rally against pay cuts in Dublin this evening.

Thousands of frontline public servants have been taking part in a rally against pay cuts in Dublin this evening.

Nurses, Gardaí, firefighters, ambulance drivers and prison officers - who are members of the 24/7 Alliance - said that they are being disproportionately hit by Government cuts.

Unions representing most of the workers are threatening industrial action if their pay is cut as part of any extension to the Croke Park deal.

Gardaí are legally prevented from striking.

But PJ Stone from the Garda Representative Association said that members feel they may be forced into some action:
