Third resignation puts Norris campaign in doubt

David Norris's bid to run in the forthcoming presidential election is in serious doubt this evening

David Norris's bid to run in the forthcoming presidential election is in serious doubt this evening

after another member of his campaign team resigned.

His Youth Co-coordinator Orla Foley stepped down this evening following the resignations last night of his Director of Communications Jane Cregan and his Director of Elections Derek Murphy.

None of them have given a reason yet for leaving, but it is reportedly related to a letter he sent to an Israeli court, seeking clemency for his former partner, Ezra Yizhak Nawi.

Mr Nawi was convicted for having sex with an underage Palestinian youth in 1992.

Mr Norris has yet to comment on the resignations and supporters of the senator say they are awaiting clarity on the matter.
