There are no pay cuts, says firm at centre of dispute at An Post mail centres
The company at the centre of an industrial dispute at An Post's mail centres, says its employees' core pay is not being cut.
Thirty-six workers at IO Systems walked off the job on Friday in a dispute over pay.
However, IO Systems says changes in shift patterns and a reduction in working hours have affected premium pay rates.
The 36 workers, who maintain automation machines in An Post sorting centres, are represented by the Communication Workers Union.
Managing Director of IO Systems Fergal Lynam, says the Communication Workers Union is misleading people into thinking the company is cutting workers' basic pay.
Mr Lynam said: "The union are basically putting it out there that there are 22% pay cuts. There are no pay cuts whatsoever, these are premium reductions and the 22% only refers to three people.
"The remainder is between 6% and 9%.
"Most of the employees are taking a cut of between 6% and 9% on their premiums. There are three people involved who are going from 22% down to zero and those people are basically going from shifts to days, so therefore there is no entitlement to any premium reduction."
