Tens of thousands due at last day of Ploughing Championships

Tens of thousands of people are attending the third and final day of the National Ploughing Championships in Co Wexford.

The organisers of the event at Heathpark outside New Ross are expecting the largest crowd of the week today as a result of improved weather conditions in the south east.

AA Roadwatch said traffic was slow again today on some approach routes to the site with the N25 Waterford road the worst-affected.

Superintendent Aidan Brennan from New Ross garda station urged motorists to be patient and to follow the sign-posted routes.

"I would ask to motorists to stick to the preferred routes because they're getting our priority and that's how we'll get people in," he said.
