Two 16-year-old males have been arrested after an aggravated burglary in Tallaght during which the homeowner was injured with a bread knife.

Two 16-year-old males have been arrested after an aggravated burglary in Tallaght during which the homeowner was injured with a bread knife.

The incident took place at around 12.45am this morning after intruders armed with a bread knife entered the house in the Rossfield area of Tallaght, gardaí said.

"Following a confrontation with the occupants of the house they fled the scene on foot empty handed," a garda statement said.

"One of the occupants (a male in his 40s) sustained minor injures during the incident."

The two suspects were arrested a short time later during a follow-up search and are being held at Tallaght Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
