Teenager beaten by thugs
Paramilitary thugs broke a teenager’s leg and arms in a savage assault in south Belfast, it emerged today.
The victim, aged 16, was questioned by three men who stopped him in a loyalist district of the city.
Police said the attack happened just before midnight at the junction of Broadway and Tavanagh Street.
The gang beat the youth, breaking his lower right leg. He also suffered suspected fractures to both arms and severe bruising to his face and legs.
Meanwhile, a woman was attacked by men after a crowd of up to 20 gathered outside her south Belfast home last night.
She was hit on the head and arm with a stick when some forced their way into the Melrose Street house.
The woman suffered bruising, but a man and baby with her were uninjured.
Police have not disclosed any motive for the assault.
