The Technical Group in the Dáil will meet today to decide whether or not they will nominate a person to take Stephen Donnelly's place on the banking inquiry.
The Independent TD quit the inquiry over the Taoiseach's insistence that the inquiry committee must have a government majority.
A Fine Gael and a Labour Senator have been added to the committee, however the party whip has been removed from the inquiry.
Following the resignation of Stephen Donnelly the candidate emerging to seek a nomination from the technical group is Joe Higgins of the Socialist Party.
Meanwhile, Fianna Fáil is continuing to criticise the government for its handling of the banking inquiry.
