Technical difficulties means social welfare recipients left out of pocket today
The Department of Social Protection has confirmed that Bank of Ireland and AIB customers who did not receive their social payments today - have now had their accounts credited.
There was a delay with payment to over 73,000 people - because of a technical difficulty.
Ulster Bank is helping affected customers through its emergency in-branch cash access.
Meanwhile, Permanent TSB clients are advised to contact their local branch.
The Department of Social Protection has been unable to make payments to over 73,000 of its beneficiaries today, because of a technical difficulty.
Anyone who was due to get a payment into their bank account today is affected.
Around 73,600 clients across a number of banks are without money owed to them.
Bank of Ireland and AIB customers will have their accounts credited this afternoon.
Ulster Bank is offering an emergency payment service to affected customers.
Martin Naughton of the Disability Federation of Ireland has said this will cause serious problems for many people.
“We have to be so careful about these things, I know, if my money doesn’t go into the bank at the end of the month, too bad, so sad, Ill survive a few days.
“But a lot of other people will probably have something on tick yesterday with the intention of paying it off today or will have all sorts of people knocking on their doors.”
