Teachers syndicate collects Lottery cheque as deadline looms for Cork EuroMillions winners

A teachers syndicate has collected their Lotto winnings today while the National Lottery also said that a €381,863 EuroMillions prize has not been collected by the winner from Cork.

The group of 20 teachers and staff from Co. Offaly collected a cheque for €65,861 after they matched five numbers and the bonus for the Lotto draw on July 9, 2016.

The winning Normal Play, multi-draw Lotto ticket was sold at the Garrycastle Spar in Garrycastle, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, on June 15.

The 35-strong group included teachers, school staff and former colleagues who have retired but have continued contributing to the syndicate in Coláiste Na Sionna, Banagher.

Syndicate leader, Kevin Jordan told about how he found out about the win the day after the draw.

He said: "My wife informed me that our local shop in Garrycastle had sold a large winning ticket. I had purchased a multi draw ticket for the syndicate for the duration of the summer so I went into the shop to scan the ticket.

"There was great excitement in the store when the shopkeeper scanned my ticket and my phone hasn’t stopped hopping since.

"I am delighted for all of the members of the syndicate who will each get a financial boost over the summer. I have already got them all to pay up for the next couple of months so nobody is leaving the syndicate just yet."

Elsewhere, the National Lottery said that time is running out for the winner of a €381,863 EuroMillions prize from the draw in May.

Their ticket matched five numbers and one Lucky Star number on Friday, May 6, and they have until 5.30pm on Thursday, August 4, 2016, to claim the money.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was bought on the day of the draw in Tesco in the Market Green Shopping Centre in Midleton, Co. Cork.

The winning numbers for the prize are:

32, 34, 40, 45, 48 and the Lucky Stars are 1 and 10

The ticketholder must sign the back of the ticket and contact the National Lottery Prize Claims Team on 01-836 4444 to collect the jackpot.
