TDs pass plan to charge private insurers more for public beds

TDs have approved plans which could force health insurance prices to rise significantly.

The new plans will dramatically increase the prices that public hospitals can charge to private insurers.

The system will see insurers pay more than €1,100 for a single overnight stay in some hospitals.

Insurers have said they may have to raise premiums by up to 25% as a result.
