TDs and Senators warned against use pre-paid envelopes to support candidates

TDs and Senators are being told not to use pre-paid Oireachtas envelopes to promote candidates in next week's local and European elections.

They are also being asked not to provide pre-paid Oireachtas envelopes to candidates.

The Standards in Public Office Commission added it has received a number of complaints that TDs and Senators are using the pre-paid Oireachtas envelopes for letters seeking support for election candidates.

These free postal facilities are paid for by the tax payer with Oireachtas members only allowed to use them in their duties as public representatives and not for any other electoral or party purpose.
