Taoiseach's top two advisors paid almost €170,000 each

The Taoiseach's top two advisors have been awarded salaries of almost €170,000 each, about the same amount of money as that paid to a senior Government Minister.

The Taoiseach's top two advisors have been awarded salaries of almost €170,000 each, about the same amount of money as that paid to a senior Government Minister.

Advisor Mark Kennelly is on a salary of €168,000, as is economic advisor Andrew McDowell.

A Government Minister earns €169,000.

In Britain, the highest-paid advisor earned €164,000 last year.

On average, there are two special advisors working with each Cabinet Minister, including the Taoiseach.

The salaries of these special advisors are lower than those in the previous Government.
