Taoiseach to hold talks with British PM


Taoiseach Enda Kenny will hold talks with British Prime Minister David Cameron in London today during one of a series of engagements in the city.

The meeting in Downing Street is the first annual summit to review progress on the joint statement signed by the two men last year aimed at further developing British-Irish relations.

The current situation in the North will also be on the agenda.

The Taoiseach intends to brief Mr Cameron on the progress of Ireland’s current EU Presidency as well.

After the meeting, Mr Kenny will attend the Champ St Patrick’s Day reception sponsored by Tourism Ireland at the Houses of Parliament in Westminster.

Champ is a not-for-profit organisation which promotes peace and prosperity in the North, the Republic of Ireland and the UK.

During the one-day visit Mr Kenny will also address a business event at the Mansion House in the City of London; the British Irish Chamber of Commerce Lunch at Savoy Place and the London School of Economics.

His speech at the LSE will focus on the current economic situation in Ireland and the country’s EU Presidency stated priorities of stability, jobs and growth.
