Taoiseach to have private audience with Pope today
07/07/2005 - 07:16:23The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is due to travel to the Vatican today for a private audience with Pope Benedict XVI.
Mr Ahern is one of the first heads of state to visit the 78-year-old Pontiff since his election in April.
The Taoiseach is also due to meet Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Angelo Sodano during today's visit and is expected to take some time to visit the tomb of Pope John Paul II.
