The Taoiseach said he intends to lead Fine Gael into the next general election in April 2016, quashing rumours that he is being head-hunted by Europe.
Enda Kenny's comments come as speculation continues that he may be offered one of two jobs in Europe next year.
He is currently the centre of attention for the positions of President of the European Commission or as Head of the European Council.
So far, the Taoiseach has refused to engage in the speculation. He maintained that position when he spoke to MidWest radio in Mayo today.
"My mandate from the Irish people – and it's an honour and a privilege to serve them – was to sort out the public finances and to put our people back to work," he told reporters.
"The next general election will be in April 2016, and the people can judge us for what we've done at that stage.
"And I intend to lead the party ... into that election."
