The Taoiseach Enda Kenny has promised a new national children's hospital will be built in the lifetime of the Government.

The promise comes despite An Bord Pleanala today rejecting planning for the hospital on a site at Dublin's Mater hospital.

It said the proposed building was too high and would have damaged the Dublin skyline.

The Health Minister James Reilly has established an expert Committee to advise him on how to proceed.

Enda Kenny has said that will report to Government very quickly.
