It has been confirmed that Enda Kenny will take part in public debates in the referendum on same-sex marriage.
The Taoiseach says he is fully committed to the cause and will take part in debates to argue for a Yes vote.
A referendum on the subject is set to be held in the early May, alongside a Dáil by-election and another vote on lowering the age of eligibility.
The Taoiseach says he is personally in favour of the idea, saying that the image of him as a conservative is wrong.
"Perception is not often reality," he said.
"I've made it clear to Deputy Buttimer, who is the chair of the group here in Fine Gael, that I will be very happy to campaign for a Yes vote when the referendum is held in the month of May."
