Taoiseach: Hollande proposals would not change Fiscal Treaty

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said today that proposals from French Presidential candidate Francois Hollande would not change the EU Fiscal Treaty.
Monsieur Hollande said that, if elected on May 6, he would be demanding a re-negotiation of the EU Fiscal Treaty to reflect a greater focus on jobs and growth.
The Taoiseach said that he supports the call, and believes it can be progressed without wholesale re-negotiation of the treaty.
"He would like to see at the end of the election, if the French people decide to elect him, a growth agenda added on to the Fiscal Stability Treaty," said Mr Kenny.
"That's eminently supportable. It doesn't change the treaty. It means an additional package of recognition that Europe has got to face up to this."
