Enda Kenny was speaking following the gunning down of the 32-year-old in a Dublin hotel in Friday.

He had been attending a boxing weigh - when six gunmen - one dressed as a woman - stormed the Regency hotel in Drumcondra.

Mr Kenny says no stone will be left un-turned: “I’ve spoken to the Minister for Justice and she has assured the Garda Commissioner that whatever resources are needed, to bring these criminal gangs to justice will be supplied.

“The Commissioner herself will make whatever operational decisions that need to be made by the Gardaí and that includes extra patrols, emergency response units and all of that.”

Armed Gardaí will continue to patrol the streets of Dublin over the coming days.

Assistant Commissioner John O'Mahony has said they are investigating the possibility the shooting is linked to drugs: “Drugs is big money, it attracts the attention of people who want to get rich fast and are ruthless and have no respect for how other people in society go about their business.

“While that is the case, we will have to be very very vigilant in relation to ensuring that our intelligence allows us to interrupt and investigate and to bring those people to justice.”
