Taoiseach hails Action Plan for Jobs' 96% completion rate

Taoiseach Enda Kenny said today that the measures in the Action Plan for Jobs are starting to have a real effect.

It comes after the latest report on the plan shows that they reached 96% of their targets set out for the first three months of this year.

Only six out of the 150 measures planned were not achieved, including two aimed at the setting up and launching of local enterprise offices.

Mr Kenny says the figures show the situation is stabilising and jobs are being created.

"A thousand private sector jobs are being created every month for the past 15 months, and that's a sign of progress, and a sign of confidence, taking into account the scale of what we have to deal with," he said.

"These figures make it very clear the scale of the task before this Government."
