Taoiseach criticised for speaking on Scotland's behalf at EU summit

The Taoiseach has been criticised for speaking on behalf of Scotland during an EU summit.

Enda Kenny has been accused of overlooking the fears of voters in Northern Ireland in the wake of the UK referendum.

The Taoiseach says he spoke on the request of Scotland's first minister Nicola Sturgeon at a European summit on Tuesday night.

Today he faced criticism on his actions from Sinn Fein's Pearse Doherty: “You mentioned the issue that was raise with you by Nicola Sturgeon and failed to mention the same views that were expressed by hundreds of thousands of people in the North of Ireland who expressed the same view through the ballot box.
