Taoiseach: Coalition is committed to re-opening Garda stations

The Taoiseach says the Coalition's committed to the re-opening of Garda stations on a pilot basis.

The Programme for Government negotiated with independents said six stations would be re-opened.

However Fianna Fáil has questioned in the Dáil if the promise has been abandoned given that no station has re-opened.

Enda Kenny says it's a matter for the Garda Commissioner: "The government have no intention of stepping aside from the commitments here, obviously the Garda Commissioner has to make arrangements and recommendations as to the order and the structure that will apply there.

"But the commitment entered into will be carried out."
