Tánaiste: Unions 'should be given space' to consider deal
The Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore has said trade unions need time to consider the detail of the Croke Park extension deal.
It comes as the National Executive Council of SIPTU, and the Executive Committee of Unite meet separately today to discuss their response proposals.
Unite walked out of the negotiations before a deal was reached, and is to recommend its members vote against it, while SIPTU will not decide its recommendation until next week.
Speaking on his way into Government Buildings, the Tánaiste and Labour leader Eamon Gilmore said the unions need time and space.
Mr Gilmore said: "I think each of the unions will consider what is in the agreement, each union will make its own recommendation to its members and the members of each union will vote on it.
"I think that we should all give the space and time to the unions to consider the detail of the agreement."
