A meeting between management and unions at Tallaght Hospital to discuss overcrowding and staffing levels is due to take place this morning.
It comes after the hospital cancelled a number of procedures due to what it described as seasonally high admittances.
However the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation said the issues were ongoing for months and its staff were concerned about patient care.
Tallaght Hospital chief executive David Slevin said the meeting this morning will address staffing levels in the emergency department, trollies on the wards and other concerns voiced by staff.
