15/03/2010 - 18:52:42
The board of Tallaght Hospital is meeting this evening to discuss its reaction to the X-ray fiasco at the hospital.

Board Chairman Lyndon McCann has been asked by a junior government minister to consider his position folllowing the revelations that 58,000 X-rays were unread by a consultant radiologist and thousands of GP letters were unopened.

The 22-person board is also made up of the hospital's former chairman, Alan Gillis, the former MEP and president of the IFA.

However the HSE has come under fire after it emerged that it failed to appoint a board member, despite being entitled to do so.
