Support disappears for backbench revolt on pay cut exemption

Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has quashed concerns by Fianna Fáil backbenchers of his decision to exempt senior civil servants from the full force of the pay cuts announced in Budget 2010.
Some Parliamentary Party members had criticised the move, tabling a motion of opposition to the decision last night.
Few were willing to second the motion in the presence of Brian Lenihan however, who addressed the group and defended the motion.
