Study details children's domestic violence experiences
11/10/2007 - 07:04:07A study into children’s experience of domestic violence is to be published today.
The report focuses on 22 young people aged under 21 who explained the impact assaults and beatings, parental rows and living in sheltered care has had on them.
Many of the children had either recently stayed in a refuge or were living in a refuge at the time of the research.
The aim of the study was to gather original narrative accounts from children who have lived with domestic violence; explore their experience of violence; and review services children found most helpful.
Minister for Children Brendan Smith will launch the report which is published under the National Children’s Strategy research series.
