Stormy weather disrupts power, phone and internet service

High winds and lightening have caused widespread power outages and disruption to phone and broadband services.

The ESB says that electiricity service has now returned to normal levels, with just 300 customers without power.

Meanwhile, 5,500 Eircom customers are currently without phone and broadband services this morning.

Widespread structural damage has been caused to telephone polls, as well as to customers' in-home wiring.

Customers who experience faults with the service are asked to report the problem as soon as possible.
