Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for the country.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for the country.

They are warning of strong westerly winds which will reach speeds of 44 to 55 kilometres per hour and could gust to as high as 100 km/hr.

There is also a status yellow rainfall warning for counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry.

Rainfall of 25 - 50mm is expected over the weekend.

Lowest temperatures are to hit 1C-4C degrees.
