State pays university fees for children of college staff

Hundreds of university staff have their children's college fees paid by the State, as a perk of the job.
Full-time staff who were given permanent contracts before the end of September 1992 are entitled to have their children educated for free.
The Irish Examiner has reported that the perk covers undergraduate registration fees and postgraduate fees, which can cost up to €10,000.
However, General Secretary of the Irish Federation of University Teachers, Michael Jennings, has said the perk ended for new staff long ago.
