Staff protest outside Clery's after takeover
Staff at Clery's in Dublin are refusing to rule out industrial action as the row over the closure of Guiney's and a number of Clery's branches continues.
The department store on O'Connell Street has been taken over by US investment company Gordon Brothers.
However, the remaining branches in Blanchardstown, Naas and Leopardstown along with Guineys on Talbot Street in Dublin are to close with the loss of 29 jobs.
Those 29 workers are protesting outside Clery's today and they said they want to be redeployed to O'Connell Street.
SIPTU organiser Graham Macken said Gordon Brothers have a moral obligation to look after the 29 workers, even though they did not take over their branches.
