Spanish police find more drugs on Irish yacht
03/09/2012 - 07:20:12Spanish police have discovered a further 250 kilos of cannabis on board an Irish yacht, bringing the value of the haul to more than €4m.
Seven people are now being detained in connection with the haul, including an Irish couple from Cork who were arrested in Marbella last Thursday.
The 53-year-old man from Grange in Cork city and his 51-year-old partner from Carrigaline are both being questioned about the drugs haul.
The arrests follow a lengthy operation involving Spanish police, Irish Customs officers and the Garda National Drugs Unit.
Under Spanish law, suspects can be detained for several months while a magistrate investigates if they have a case to answer.
