Son of shooting victim gives evidence in murder trial
The son of a man allegedly shot dead by a Dublin teenager is giving evidence at the murder trial today.
Conor Duffy (aged 18) of St Mary's Road, East Wall denies killing Aidan O'Kane at a laneway off Bargy Road in the East Wall area on December 7, 2008.
The jury heard that Aidan O’Kane was shot once in the chest after challenging a group of teenagers about eggs being thrown at his house on Shelmalier Road.
The deceased’s son Dylan O’Kane has been giving evidence that they changed into leather jackets and his father picked up a retractable baton, before going back outside to confront those responsible.
He gave evidence his father followed a teenager, who he believes was the accused -the then-16-year-old Conor Duffy, down a laneway.
Dylan O’Kane has told the jury he could see -his father Aidan- crouching with the baton in his right hand, while the accused stood straight pointing a weapon at the 50-year-old.
He said it happened in a flash: there was a shot, the teenager ran off and his father collapsed, first on one knee and then onto his back as he told a neighbour to call an ambulance.
