Snow hits flights to UK

Both Aer Lingus and Ryanair have cancelled several flights to and from Britain this morning, due to heavy snowfalls there overnight.

More than 16 centimetres of snow fell in England, Scotland and Wales.

Heathrow airport has grounded more than 350 flights, while there is also expected to be some flight disruption at Birmingham, Luton, Stansted and Leeds Bradford airports.

Passengers in Ireland planning to fly to the UK today, or get a connecting flight there, are being advised to check airline websites.
