Smartphones to allow 'video calls' between GPs and patients

Patients will soon be able to use their smartphones for conducting consultations with their GPs.

Aviva Health Insurance and Babylon Health are launching a new app which will allow the online GP facility.

It will be available initially to Aviva Health Insurance customers, but in time could become more widespread.

CEO of Aviva Health Insurance James Parker said: "We think this is a way forward. It's simply a way of interacting with your GP in their surgery through video conferencing, or 'video call' as we’re calling it. It's far more convenient."
