Smartphones are the go-to device for children accessing the internet - and 9 to 16 year olds mostly use them at home.

60% of children in that age bracket own a smartphone - with one in five of them finding negative content online.

The findings are being released today - ahead of Safer Internet Day tomorrow.

Simon Grehan of internet safety platform Webwise says it's about making the internet a more positive place.

"Children don't want to become the next target of bullying. Everyone wants to deal with it … but they don't know how," he said.
