Gardaí are appealing for information after a six-year-old girl was knocked down on the Malahide Road in Coolock this evening.

Gardaí are appealing for information after a six-year-old girl was knocked down on the Malahide Road in Coolock this evening.

The crash happened at the pedestrian crossing on the inbound lane city side of the Darndale roundabout at around 7.45pm.

The girl was taken to Temple St Hospital where her condition is described as serious.

The van, which is described as an old dark coloured van possibly green, failed to remain at the scene and continued driving towards the city.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
