SIPTU members narrowly reject LRC proposals in Irish Rail row

A strike at Irish Rail could be on the cards.

SIPTU members working in Irish Rail have rejected recommendations by the Labour Court by a narrow margin.

Workers were voting on terms relating to proposed pay cuts as part of cost-saving measures at the company.

A spokesman for the trade union said it was clear from the ballot that members categorically rejected pay cuts.

Industrial action is expected as it has already been approved in an earlier ballot.
