SIPTU is calling on the Government to ensure that all options are explored to save jobs at Mount Carmel hospital in Dublin.

Provisional liquidators were appointed to Mount Carmel yesterday with the expected loss of more than 300 jobs.

An emergency meeting between the union and provisional liquidators took place yesterday evening to discuss the appointment.

The National Maternity Hospital says it has been in contact with medics at Mount Carmel to discuss contingency plans for the eventual closure of the private hospital.
