Sinn Féin to consider fatal foetal abnormality policy at Ard Fheis
Members of Sinn Féin are travelling to Derry today for the party's Ard Fheis.
Over 2,000 members are expected at the event, only the second time the Ard Fheis has been held north of the border.
Among the talking points are proposals to adopt a new party policy on abortion.
The party's central council is behind a motion looking to allow abortion in cases of fatal foetal abnormality. Deputy party leader Mary Lou McDonald is supporting that call.
"We made it clear that we had, unfortunately a policy gap - we will be very strongly recommending this motion to the Ard Fheis to address that," she said.
"It's a matter for the delegates to debate, to scrutinise, and to arrive at a conclusion."
