Sinn Féin TD Martin Ferris has been cleared of drink driving after being arrested last month on suspicion of being over the legal alcohol limit.

The Kerry North TD failed a breath test after being stopped near his home in Ardfert on April 22.

He was arrested and subsequently gave a urine sample, but the results of tests on that sample have now come back below the legal limit.

Mr Ferris said at the time that he did not think he was over the limit as he had only had two pints a glass of wine.

However, he said today that, if he found himself in the same position again, he would not get behind the wheel of his car.
