Three gardaí escaped uninjured last night after a shot was fired at their patrol car in Limerick.

Three gardaí escaped uninjured last night after a shot was fired at their patrol car in Limerick.

The uniformed gardaí were investigating reports that a stolen vehicle had crashed in the Moyross area of the city when a shotgun was discharged at the rear of their unmarked patrol car.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm.

The gardaí escaped injury but it is understood the vehicle’s rear bumper had up to 15 pellet holes following the incident.

Three men and three women, all in their 20s, were arrested during follow-up searches and are being detained at Henry Street Garda Station.
