A 26-year-old man has been injured in a shooting in Limerick City.

A 26-year-old man has been injured in a shooting in Limerick City.

It happened on Byrne Avenue at about 9.30pm last night.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the attack, and is being held at Roxboro Road Garda Station.

The victim was taken to University Hospital Limerick where he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Gardaí say two "hooded" suspects fled in the direction of Lenihan Avenue. They are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
