Shatter under pressure to address 'casino meeting' issue

Another government minister is coming under pressure over a meeting with Michael Lowry.

Justice Minister Alan Shatter is yet to respond to queries about whether he met the Tipperary North TD last October to discuss a planned casino in Tipperary.

The news comes after the Environment Minister Phil Hogan was criticised for meeting with Mr Lowry just days after the Moriarty Tribunal report was published in March last year.

Two other Government ministers - Michael Noonan and James Reilly - have also confirmed Mr Lowry was present at meetings they held with other people last year.

Ministers Noonan and Reilly insist that Deputy Lowry is an elected representative.

The Taoiseach Enda Kenny discussed his concerns over the issue with Environment Minister Phil Hogan by phone yesterday.
