Shatter: HSE removed children from family 3,000 times in four years
The Justice Minister says the health services have intervened to remove children from their families almost 3,000 times in the last four years.
But Alan Shatter said any sort of racial profiling in the Garda Síochána is absolutely unacceptable.
His comments came as independent TD Clare Daly alleged that Gardaí record the details of Traveller children onto the Pulse system.
Minister Shatter said any such actions would not be tolerated.
"I would regard racial profiling as utterly unacceptable," he said.
"I have spent a substantial period of time as Minister for Justice in dealing with the issue of racism, across Europe, and we made it a particular issue during the Irish presidency."
