Shatter: Finucane family entitled to full truth

Justice Minister Alan Shatter has said the family of Pat Finucane is entitled to know the full truth about his murder.

The Irish Government is to continue to push for a full public inquiry into Mr Finucane's death, even though British Prime Minister David Cameron rejected the idea yesterday.

Minister Alan Shatter expects the Taoiseach to meet the Finucane family next week.

He said there was a deal in place with the British government on issues relating to the Troubles which saw the establishment of the Smithwick Tribunal here, and he called on the British government to keep its side of the agreement.

"The Finucane family are entitled at the end of this know that the full truth - the comprehensive truth - has come out," he said.

"The difficulty here is that we're meeting our obligations under an agreement between the British and Irish government, and it's of the utmost importance that the British government meet theirs."
