Sinn Fein's Martina Anderson has become the first MEP elected in Northern Ireland after topping the poll with almost 160,000 votes.

Sinn Fein's Martina Anderson has become the first MEP elected in Northern Ireland after topping the poll with almost 160,000 votes.

Two more seats are yet to be declared.

The DUP's Diane Dodds came second, with Ulster Unionist Jim Nicolson third, but both fell short of the quota of votes needed to secure a seat with first preferences.

The final result is expected tomorrow morning.
